Reinebringen
Reinebringen is the most well-known hike in Lofoten. Due to heavy traffic, Nepalese Sherpas were contracted to construct a 1978-step rock staircase to prevent erosion and promote safety on the hike, which was completed in 2021. The parking area is in Reine and the staircase climbs the south (back) side of Reinebringen. The views on the ascent are somewhat pedestrian, at least by Lofoten standards, until the viewpoint, which is the main event of this hike.
We did this hike in the evening, just before sunset. Even at 10:00 pm, the hike was quite crowded. Often times with famous hikes, the annoyance of the crowds detracts from the scenery. This was not the case with Reinebringen. The juice was absolutely worth the squeeze. The view from the ridgeline overlooking Reine, Oldtinden, Reinefjorden, Kirkfjorden and Bunesfjorden was incredible. The evening light and interspersed fog added drama to the scene. This is truly a must-do hike in Lofoten.
I recommend doing the hike in the early morning or late evening. Even though it was busy when we went, the crowds were far less than in the middle of the day. This is an epic viewpoint and is worth doing at the best time of the day.
