Photography Style
The photography on this site is obtained while hiking. Many of the trails we hike are long and strenuous, allowing no time for formal setup, tripods or multiple shots of the same scene. All of the images are captured with the camera held in hand. This adds an additional challenge, in which I am often at altitude, shooting in adverse weather conditions, trying to control my breathing and heart rate after climbing, all while trying to capture a sharp and precise image.
I use a single 18-135mm lens, to avoid switching lenses in the field and exposing the camera sensor to the elements. All of the camera settings (F-stop, shutter speed and iso) are manually adjusted and the focal point is individually selected for each shot. I use no camera presets and no lens filters. Likewise, I personally develop all of my own images and do not use Lightroom or AI presets.
All images are captured and developed in RAW format. The photos here are uploaded in high resolution JPEG, as the site does not support TIF or RAW images. These photos are best viewed in a larger format, such as a desktop or laptop computer.
I place a premium on purity of technique and resource utilization in an attempt to preserve artistic integrity in my photography.
