Trolldalsvatnet and Ovrevatnet
We chose this hike because the weather forecast called for rain, low fog and high winds. Trolldalsvatnet, Nedrevatnet and Ovrevatnet are three lakes near Brenna on Austvagoya. The elevation of these lakes is low and the area is protected by the surrounding mountains.
Trolldalsvatnet is a small lake which we visited first. It is the highest elevation of the lakes on this hike. The wind was blowing quite hard once we reached the lake, which created waves on the water and made it difficult to photograph. The best views were looking down over Nedrevatnet and the farmland toward the northern coastline.
Ovrevatnet is a larger lake that we visited next. It above Nedrevatnet to the southwest. The vegetation around this lake is particularly colorful. The wind was less at this elevation. The sun peered over the ridge above the lake during a break in the rain, which made for some good photo opportunities.
This was our final hike in Lofoten. It was a more low key hike, with less mileage and elevation gain than our other hikes. While it didn’t have epic views like Reinebringen or Munken, we were the only people on the trail, which was a great way to finish our visit to Norway. This trail is a nice choice for a day with subpar weather or a recovery hike.
